Learn to love eating for the health of it!Everyone experiences some degree of emotional eating. If we are ever to tackle the current obesity epidemic, why we eat what we eat is the main question that needs an answer. I derive these answers by asking the right questions, an approach I call food therapy. Everyone has a story, and although these stories often spring from similar roots, we experience them differently and cope with them in varying ways. My task is to offer practical solutions to my clients by arming them with a functional nutrition approach and better understanding of why they choose what they eat and the implications it has for their health.

Lisa Jubilee is a New York State Certified Dietician-Nutritionist, who has been counseling individuals on sustainable weight management and disease prevention for over 20 years. Her mission is to empower individuals to obtain healthy food relationships and to clearly understand the concept of food as medicine. Lisa chose to create a functional nutrition practice where what, why and how we eat are all part of the conversation. There is no One-Size-Fits-All dietary approach, but Ms Jubilee has experienced great success utilizing specific dietary protocols such as intermittent fasting, time restricted eating, low carb/ketogenic dietary regimens and AIP (autoimmune protocol) in her practice.
In 2005, Lisa co-created Living Proof Nutrition Strength Pilates, a private nutrition, HIST (high intensity strength training) and Pilates studio, located in midtown Manhattan. The inspiration behind Living Proof was to create a private fitness and wellness space, where the importance of nutrition and functional movement are emphasized in tandem.
As of March 2020, in order to continue to service her clients and the public at large during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Jubilee has shifted to offering all of her nutrition counseling and support services remotely on a permanent basis. During stressful times like now, it is very common and understandable to turn to food and drink as comfort and entertainment. Schedule NowLike many people, the pandemic resulted in me having a lot of anxiety. I became afraid of the idea of getting sick and it didn’t help that I was experiencing some health issues including reoccurring panic attacks and twitching all over my body, mainly in my legs and arms. I went to so many doctors, got so many tests and no one could tell me what was causing all my problems. I decided that although I couldn’t control much of what was happening, I could change how I was taking care of myself and my body. I had gained weight during the pandemic and stopped working out regularly for about two years. When I decided to look for a nutritionist, I came across Lisa on Zocdoc and I immediately knew I had found the right person after looking into her programs and reading all the great reviews. Now that I’ve finished my 10-week program with Lisa, all I can say is, she is the BEST. She is thorough, takes time to go over blood work and your medical history. She is knowledgeable, a good listener, comforting, non-judgmental and because of that, she gives you a plan that works for your lifestyle and for YOU. I never felt deprived of the foods I liked but I’m better at managing what I consume and how much I consume, which is something I will continue to do long after the program. The food in my meal plan was not only nutritious but delicious. Having my regular check-ins also kept me accountable and felt like I had a support system throughout the 10-weeks. Lisa is available for questions any time and she is truly knowledgeable and knows her stuff. Now to the results - this is the best I’ve felt since the pandemic started. Since starting the program, I haven’t experienced any major panic attacks, thanks to the supplements Lisa recommended I am no longer experiencing the twitching that numerous doctors weren’t able to help me with and I have achieved my goal of losing weight and being/feeling healthier. Although I’ve only lost 6 pounds, I’ve gained lean mass and have lost 10% of body fat. I’ve dropped two clothing sizes (was wearing a size 8 during the pandemic and now down to a size 4) and now wearing the clothes I haven’t been able to fit into since 2019. I look forward to continuing this lifestyle and taking care of my body. I couldn’t have done it without you, Lisa! If you’re looking for a good, caring, efficient nutritionist that will get you the results you need, look no further.

Lisa was a fantastic nutritionist to work with. Not only is she knowledgeable in her craft, but I appreciated that she was a person of color, just like me. Someone I could connect with, easily talk to and knew the foods I love to eat from my culture, but can’t have much of. Lisa helped me regain control of my nutrition, my acid reflux has significantly decreased and overall, I feel and look like I’m taking care of my health in the right way, thanks to Lisa and her nutritional package she put together for me. She was kind, compassionate and flexible. I encourage everyone to see a nutritionist at some point in their life! I hope it’s someone like Lisa.

The pandemic impacted my mother's health in a big way. First, there was a diagnosis of Osteoporosis in the Summer of 2021. A few months after that, she was given a fatty liver disease diagnosis and most recently, the doctors discovered an ulcer. I was horrified at how the healthcare professionals handled my mother's string of diagnoses. The final straw being when 1) a staff member handed my mother her endoscopy results and in response to my mom asking "it's an ulcer?" he literally responded "Yup. Next stop, cancer." and 2) they handed her extremely poor post-procedural care directions including a list of all the foods she could not eat, but no recommendations on what she could and SHOULD eat. From the beginning, Lisa was a true professional and a breath of fresh air who often returned to her mantra of “using food as medicine." She was incredibly thorough, asking for her doctor results beforehand as well a food log my mother was asked to submit. It was clear she had reviewed all the paperwork and made both dietary and other holistic wellness recommendations to help my mother heal. She was patient and understanding throughout the entire consultation, always pausing to check in and make sure my mother understood what was happening and never judging any of her responses. Most people working with translators (which is the role I was playing in addition to concerned daughter) speak directly to the translator, a personal pet peeve of mine. Lisa did not. She always spoke directly to my mother when asking questions. One of my favorite parts of this consultation (besides how much we BOTH learned) was Lisa’s style of coaching which led to a lot of self reflection that allowed my mother to make her own connections in regards to how certain food choices might have been negatively affecting her health. This kind of coaching, in my opinion, is what lends to real, lasting change in clients. I cannot recommend Lisa anymore highly and am seriously considering booking her again for my own consultation.

Thanks to Lisa, I’ve been able to change my eating habits. I feel I have so much more energy. I sleep better than I ever remember and no longer wake up feeling tired. The eczema patches on my skin started to heal and fade. My blood pressure dropped 20-30 points. The results yes, more than I expected in this short period. All of this with food, and no medications. It’s amazing the power of healthy meals. On our initial consultation, Lisa collected information on my eating habits, dietary preference and not only weight but several body measurements. She was able to tell me my fat and lean muscle mass. After our initial consultation Lisa set out to develop a dietary plan for me to lower my cholesterol, blood pressure and A1C since I was considered pre diabetic. Talk about high anxiety! To my surprise she was able to develop a plan around foods I like to eat. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything and was still able to have my ground provisions, smoothie and of course my chocolate and snacks. She gave me a healthier way/healthier alternatives. I was able to decrease my fat mass and increase lean mass while losing weight. After 3 months with a weight loss of 11.6 lbs, my lean mass increased by 10.3 lbs and fat lost decreased by 21.6.lbs. I can now fit into clothes I haven’t worn in years. Sessions with Lisa are one on one. She was so supportive and always reminded me that I can reach out to her anytime. Would absolutely recommend Lisa to anyone looking for nutritional support.

I bought the 10 week package and had a great experience with Lisa! She's incredibly helpful, responsive and educated on the best way to help each person meet their individual goals. After many unsuccessful attempts at losing weight, I ended up loosing 11lbs of body fat and gaining 1.5lbs of muscle in my 10 weeks with Lisa. I highly recommend working with her!

I work with Lisa on on ongoing basis for my nutritional needs and my life has positively been changed by the work we are doing. I am a vegetarian who weight trains and participates in dynamic sports on a regular basis and I was often getting sick, filling sluggish, and getting irritable on a day basis before my work with Lisa. I reached out for her to help me create a meal plan and the plan was well thought every point I was missing in my nutrition before seeing her. She helped me understand macro and micronutrients, what vitamins I should take for my dietary needs, and would passionately educate me by making sure I understand why I am doing what I am doing. If you are looking for some one who will listen to your needs, communicate with you clearly, and help you get past physical and mental barriers in your nutritional needs, Lisa is the right professional to help you

After 5 days of eating right my pressure is now at 113/76. This is the lowest it's been, even on this medication.

Working with Lisa has been life changing. I have struggled with weight loss and binge eating pretty much my whole life. After trying many different diets I usually get to the same plateau on my weight, end up giving up in frustration, and usually putting all the weight back on. About a year ago I decided to give keto a try and hit my usual weight loss wall. This time around I decided to make a change and get some help from Lisa. Since working with Lisa (about 5 months now), I have lost over 20 pounds and 10% body fat. Not only have I lost weight and fat but the whole composition of my body has changed in such a drastic and positive way that friends and family members have reached out to Lisa to make appointments. Currently I am about 15 pounds under my usual plateau weight and my body has yet to slow down. Before meeting with Lisa I felt as if I was white knuckling a diet, trying so hard to stay in control of it. With her help and guidance I have been following this new lifestyle with absolute ease. I do not feel hungry or restricted ever. She helped me tweak what I thought was Keto into an actual whole foods oriented sustainable healthy way of living. She has guided me through what caloric intake, macros breakdown, workouts, etc are good for ME and MY BODY. She has such a positive upbeat attitude that even when I have a bad weigh-in week she will talk me through it and I always walk out of her office feeling better. I highly recommend Lisa to anyone looking for any type of nutritional services!

Read on as our certified dietician-nutritionist, Lisa Jubilee, answers the most frequent questions for nutritionist and dietician services.
Yes, we create meal plans for our clients. We believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to optimal health and sustained weight loss. We will develop a customized plan that considers your current lifestyle, health, food preferences, and goals. We can also help you make changes that are specific to your health needs and particular dietary restrictions.
We can accommodate everyone's needs with our personalized programs and nutrition counseling. A comprehensive consultation alone or with additional services could cost you anywhere from $210 to $550.
Although nutritionists and dietitians share similar career paths, their certifications and credentials may vary. Both can help you with weight loss. The key is to seek out a registered dietician or a certified dietician-nutritionist. These professionals are qualified to address your weight and health issues most effectively.
The nutritionist or dietician will ask questions to gather information about your lifestyle, health status, dietary habits, and personal goals. You will be asked to keep an honest and detailed food diary for a couple of days as well. During the consultation, your practitioner will ask about your current lifestyle and health concerns, as well as your goals and present symptoms. They may also discuss emotional issues affecting your eating habits or mood. Your nutritionist may also ask about your sleep patterns, stress, and physical activity routines.
A nutritionist may or may not be certified, and they may not be able to provide the same level of expertise as registered dieticians. This is because they may not have the necessary skills and knowledge to help people make informed decisions. It is essential to consult a dietician with adequate skills and knowledge to guide you. You can also consult a registered dietician nutritionist for advice to improve your diet and prevent further complications.
A nutritionist can help you understand how your food choices affect your health. A nutritionist can understand your condition and develop an eating plan that fits your needs, along with teaching you how to prepare healthy and convenient meals. Consulting a nutritionist will eventually help control lifestyle diseases, aid in weight maintenance, and improve metabolic activities.
Nutrition consultation costs vary from person to person based on their nutrition program. A comprehensive, personalized nutrition program can help individuals lose weight and improve their health. It can be customized to meet specific needs, goals, and lifestyle routines. A customized nutrition plan that includes ongoing support can even result in eliminating certain health conditions and long-term need for medications.
