Sonny ParmarOur three departments — NUTRITION, STRENGTH TRAINING, and PILATES — have in common their uncompromising devotion to the individual. All services are one-on-one and by appointment only.
Our departments can be utilized singly or in combination, according to the client’s preference, and we bow to no restrictions of age, size, or skill level. What does matter is that you’ve decided to take things into your own hands and make yourself better — healthier, stronger, fitter, leaner — to actualize your potential, whatever it is.

Personal Trainer, Co-founder
One of the founders of Living Proof, Jon has more years of experience in strength training than he likes to admit. Having managed to stay in shape through an earlier career that kept him chained to a desk for two decades, he later began applying the lessons learned during those years in the trenches to others.
Jon has developed and adapted a range of protocols drawn from the many conflicting theories of strength training, all of them tested thoroughly on himself before being imposed on anyone else. The effectiveness of his technique is reflected in his own condition: perhaps the oldest active trainer in New York, he is living proof that flesh need not sag as birthdays accumulate. Jon holds certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the SuperSlow Exercise Guild.

Nutritionist, Co-founder
Certified Dietician and Nutritionist Lisa Jubilee, MS, CDN, has over a decade of experience in diet and nutrition. Propelled by the desire to meet the needs of individuals, Lisa has built a reputation for sensitivity and insightful response to the wishes of her clients.
Lisa works with clients personally, teaching them balanced nutrition and strategies for developing a healthy relationship to food. Her individualized meal plans, guidance and continuous support lead clients to comfortably attain and maintain their health and fitness goals. She has coined phrases such as “food therapy”, “urban nutrition” and “calorie accountant” to describe her unique approach to nutrition education.
Lisa’s reputation for practical, individualized nutrition recommendations has been recognized through various speaking engagements throughout New York City. In addition, she has been featured in numerous leading publications, including Parenting, Time Out New York, Women’s Health, Amsterdam News, AM New York, The Network Journal and Black Enterprise. Companies such as Gaiam, Out of the Blue and GoMoBo have also engaged her as an expert nutritionist.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Foods and Nutrition from Rutgers University and her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from New York University.
According to Lisa: “Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or simply improving eating habits, no two bodies are alike. Learn what your body needs to get the results you want.”

Certified Pilates Instructor
& Personal Trainer
As the only member of the Living Proof team certified in both Pilates and personal training, Allison is uniquely qualified to guide clients in their quest for stronger, leaner, better-aligned bodies.
After earning a BA in Art, Allison abandoned her native Florida for New York City for the express purpose of gaining a classical Pilates certification through Romana’s Pilates. She apprenticed under the Pilates master Sari Mejia Santo and even had the opportunity to study under Romana Kryzanowska herself. She then went on to acquire certifications from the National Academy of Sports and Medicine, the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, and the American Heart Association.
A fitness instructor since 2004, Allison is delighted to be able to combine her specialties in high-intensity strength training and Pilates, all under one roof.

Certified Pilates Instructor
Brook Notary holds a Masters Degree in Dance from the Tisch School of the Arts and has had the privilege of teaching Pilates for the past 14 years. She studied from the best. Brook was certified by the renowned Rael Isacowitz and also studied with master teacher Kathy Grant, a first generation student and protégé of Joseph Pilates.
Brook’s nurturing approach to teaching is very hands-on. Being a veteran professional dancer, choreographer and aerialist for the Off-Broadway hit show De La Guarda, Brook understands the body, its abilities and limitations from experience. Brook's clients have come to her with rehabilitation issues, heart conditions, diabetes, back pain, sports injuries as well as overall body maintenance needs.
What excites Brook most, is how different every body is. She considers it an honor to make discoveries and change with every client no matter what age or skill level. Brook's philosophy is to encourage and inspire wellness in all of her clients and she believes that there is a fine art to making change.

Certified Pilates Instructor
Daniel Case is an actor and professional aerialist who has been performing eight extremely athletic shows per week for the past 10 years and has remained injury-free due to his personal daily Pilates practice. He is honored to share his knowledge about the body with his clients.
As well as holding a BA in Dance and an MFA in Theater, Daniel has been a certified and dedicated student of the Pilates method for over 10 years. He was a cast member of the Off-Broadway hit show De La Guarda, danced for Usher, and works actively in television and film.
Daniel is also an original Cast member of FUERZABRUTA and can still be seen performing at the Daryl Roth Theater. Daniel's background as a professional performer, aerialist, and stunt acrobat gives him a wealth of knowledge about the body, injury prevention, body alignment, and rehabilitation. Daniel is known for his intelligent, therapeutic and nurturing approach to teaching Pilates.

Certified Pilates Instructor
Loi Kail started dancing at the age of five and hasn’t quit moving since. She moved to New York after earning a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan, danced with several companies, choreographed and performed her own work, attended the Swedish Institute, and received her license as a massage therapist.
She spent several years in Germany, where she continued to dance and choreograph and was assistant to the choreographer at the Komische Oper in Berlin. Upon returning to New York she worked as a massage therapist while studying Pilates. She began teaching Pilates soon after and still teaches group mat classes at Equinox.
Loi has experience working with a wide variety of clients: pre- and post-natal, post-rehab, dancers, golfers, hip replacement—and even people with nothing obviously wrong with them. She directed her own Pilates studio from 1999 until joining Living Proof in April 2007. She has continued to train her eye, mind, and body by attending workshops (Swedish Institute, Irene Dowd) and as a member of the Pilates Method Alliance.

Personal Trainer
Autumn LeBank, a certified NASM personal trainer formerly employed at Equinox, has worked and studied in Oregon, France, and New York City. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in General Science (with a minor in chemistry and a specialization in sports medicine), earned her training certification, and has been guiding clients to their fitness goals since November 2006.
After her stint at Equinox, Autumn spent months learning the principles and details of the customized high-intensity program applied at Living Proof. Believing as she does that success in all facets of life stems from a strong foundation in health and body awareness, she is able to combine her scientific background with the most advanced techniques of strength training. Now also pursuing a degree in physical therapy, Autumn works to bring clients to their limits.

Personal Trainer
After 16 years under the tutelage of master trainers, Sonny Parmar is delighted to show clients how a lean, svelte figure can be achieved with a focused 25-minute workout, just once or twice a week. The actor, singer and certified trainer practices (and models) exactly what he preaches with unorthodox but effective training sessions at Living Proof on East 54th Street. In addition to training clients at Living Proof in Manhattan and doing in-home training for individuals and families, Sonny is available to speak at schools, cultural organizations, and conferences about fitness and health and currently is developing a TV series focused on ethnicity, diet and health.

Our private nutrition office is equipped with the Metacheck device, which measures an individual’s resting metabolism through a simple 10-minute breathing test. This enables our nutritionist to pinpoint each client’s daily caloric requirement, an important fact to know in designing meal plans that let you eat as much as possible while still losing weight or fat.
The chill of the workout room and the brevity of the exercises eliminate perspiration in almost all cases, but a private shower, fresh towels, hair drier, and the requisite creams and lotions are nevertheless on offer. Just in case you’re on your way to a cocktail party after your visit with us.

The strength-training department relies exclusively on machines made by the MedX company, renowned for their nearly frictionless action and biomechanical accuracy, the latter feature allowing us to accommodate clients of any size and fitness level.

Our Pilates studio has the classic pieces — Cadillac, Reformer, Wunda Chair — plus an array of smaller props and instruments able to deal with the most varied body issues.
If you're training with any one of our personal trainers, for each person you refer, you receive 4 free training sessions. Between all of your family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances, you could potentially workout for free for a year!
